The Neighbourhood - Self Titled Album Review

Self Titled - The Neighbourhood

5/10

Spotify

This album has some great songs, and some uninspired terrible ones. It's really a mixed bag, so hit shuffle at your own risk.

Void is this album at this best, it just feels epic. You can feel the emotion in the tracks and everything is perfectly where it should be. It's just a great song. Scary Love, which was from their previous EP, along with Stuck With Me, are still both great songs, albeit losing some of their edge having been out for so long. Nervous and You Get Me So High are above average tracks, although suffering from repetitiveness which plagues much of this album.

The rest of this album, however, feels completely uninspired. It feels like everything else is just filler between the actual decent songs on here. If this album was instead another EP, with 5 or so songs on it it'd be a very good project. Instead, it feels like a drag in the middle with very little relief.

I recommend a few songs off of this album, but all-in-all this project is a skippable one, taking up more time than it's worth.

Favorite Tracks - Void, Scary Love, Nervous

Least Favorite Tracks - Sadderdaze, Too Serious

Thank you all for reading! Let me know what you think, and as always, this is Kenny Haller, over and out!
