Vertigo by EDEN Review

Vertigo - EDEN

5/10

Spotify

I do not understand this album. Many decisions that were made in the creation of this project confuse and astound me. At the same time, however, there are plenty of moments in this album where I love it. It's very much a hit-or-miss album, song to song.

EDEN and this album is at it's best in the calm moments, where he feels very comfortable and able to really put emotion into what he's saying. The best portion of this album is with four songs in the middle, lost//found, crash, gold, and forever//over. It's where EDEN really shows what he's capable of with his voice, without much overproduction (with the exception of part of crash) that plagues a lot of this album for me.

Unfortunately, a lot of the album is plagued with very questionable decisions when it comes to the music behind EDEN's vocals. icarus, for example, feels like the vocal is completely disconnected from the instrumental at times, in a way that makes the music feel awkward.

I'm very excited for his future projects after listening to this. You can see how passionate he is about this and I hope he builds on the really good parts of this album and refines the more questionable parts to, at least, be cleaner in the way they are implemented. There's a lot of potential for him to be something special, and I hope he continues to refine his sound.

Favorite Tracks - gold, falling in reverse, lost//found, forever//over

Least Favorite Tracks - take care, icarus

And as always, this is Kenny Haller, over and out.
