Man Of The Woods by Justin Timberlake Review

Man Of The Woods - Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake adventures into new territory on this new record, and tries to create a mixture of genres unlike anything we've seen before. And while his ambition for this project is clear and admirable, this album falters more than in succeeds in doing so.

The lead single on this project, Filthy, is a misrepresentation of what this album is. Supplies is even worse, as it's not only a misrepresentation, it's just a terrible song. These loud electronic songs are completely different than the rest of the album, dealing with more folk type music with limited pop and electronic moments.

The mixture of genres feels completely off sometimes, like they put this together without taking the type to make sure the details were perfect. Or maybe they made these decisions on perfect, in which I would just ask why, as it throws off any momentum completely when they occur.

(Side note: The interlude on this album just makes me immensely uncomfortable and I don't know why it exists.)

Some songs take this genre mix and run with it, creating something worth interesting and exciting, but most of these songs don't blend right, and end with leaving a bad taste in the listener's mouth.

Favorite Tracks - Say Something, The Hard Stuff

Least Favorite Tracks - Supplies, Sauce, Man Of The Woods, Livin' Off The Land, (Hers (Interlude))
