Hundred Acres by S. Carey Review

Hundred Acres - S. Carey

S. Carey, most notably known as a member of Bon Iver, has released an album that really takes a look at life. This is an album that will make you think all about life and death and everything in between, and there's something special about that.

Rose Petals sets the tone for the album, with a soothing vocal over a guitar that you will probably be sick of by the end of this album. But this song, along with many others on this project, are really pretty and allow your mind to wander.

More I See come's out of nowhere with a heavy drum over the otherwise still similar style as the rest of this album. I feel like making the drum so loud and in your face was a mistake, as it takes away from that immersion that had been built thus far in the project.

Fool's Gold, the first single off of this project, is a representation of everything I love about this album. The vocal performance on this track is incredible and leads to an amazing, heart-wrenching song. Go listen to this one.

Overall this album has a really pretty sound but doesn't take as many risks as I wish it did, and when it does take a risk, falls flat of what it could've been.
